There is a popular approach towards water saving nowadays. It has most likely been part of human societies from ancients times to now because life wouldn't be possible without it.What is mentioned so far , of course, water. Since historical times, it  has played an important role not only in our daily lives, but also locations of the cities through human settlement. For example, some indigenous people from Africa still put their shelter near a lake or a pond for free access to freshwater , which might prevent them from walking ten kilometers a day to reach a water resource.Likewise, in modern life, after doing a heavy workout, drinking a glass of water would be considered as a gratitude while you're thirsty but unfortunately , not everyone is aware of the situation that, in the future, most of the world will face water scarcity to meet their demands for their survivals. Today, many African countries are suffering from water problems and they cannot find clean water for essential activities such as drinking , washing , cleaning  and other  domestic use of it.

All over the world , the actions for raising awareness on water problem are taken by many institutions from different scales i.e. United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals are setted up for Water Crisis and independent pressure groups like World Water Council whose purpose is to mobilize actions on critical water issues. With the growing population size, it is inevitable that water demand will exceed its supply. Individually, every person should pay more attention to her or his water footprint, a way of measuring direct and indirect water use of an individual, and find solutions to save water . Beyond all daily consumption of water , the total volume of freshwater used to produce the goods and services consumed by an individual or a community e.g. production of paper, clothes, food and electronics. Take a look at this website to calculate your own water footprint.

To sum up, the guiding question is here ''What can you do individually to save water?'' .The answers are as follows:

First, determine what are the components making up your water footprint ( green water, blue water and grey water )Second, take an action to diminish the activities in which water is wasted i.e. watering the yard, washing car or taking a shower under the flowing water .Third, learn about ways to conserve water (Visit the website of Water Supplies Department for more tips)
